Walk Around The World

This project began in 2009 with a simple, spontaneous shot using a low-quality camera, of sunburned feet in Sydney.

It became the way I would fulfill my long-time wish to capture single moments that could describe my travel experiences.

 My way of photographing my adventures slowly evolved into a beautiful documentation of not only the special places I travel and the experiences I live, but also the people I meet along the way.

During these adventures, new friends as well as old friends were invited to join me in a photograph.

Fox Glacier, New Zealand - A full-day hike during which climbing over 900 stairs to the top of the glacier was required. The only way to get through that was to count. Yes, count them all. Cramp ons were necessary to keep from slipping. 2009

Cromwell, Central Otago, New Zealand - For 6 weeks during the grape season, I worked picking grapes, an interesting job, which was often REALLY fun. On the cold days, I would wear a hot water bottle on my back. 2009

Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, North Island, New Zealand - After living in a van for 5 months, I decided to settle and moved into a room on the beach. I worked in a cafe and my day consisted of a 25-minute walk down the beach, a day full of food service and then the same walk back. I grew to love the sand and especially the shells on my daily walks. 2009

Chaiya, Thailand - I was fortunate enough to live in a small village in Thailand for 6 months. It allowed me to experience this beautiful country in such a unique way. I can't say I was a huge fan of swimming on this particular day, despite the heat! 2009
in Rochester New York the snow had fallen and my family went out for a walk
Rochester, New York, United States - Abruptly, during my time in Thailand, my lovely grandmother passed away. I traveled40 hours home, changing time zones by 12 hours and temperatures went from 40C/104F to -28C/-20F. It was a difficult trip, in many ways, but this picture was taken on a sunny hike after a fresh dusting of snow near where family lives. 2009

Ho Chi Minh Trail, Vietnam - A very special trip during which a guide took me from the south to north on the Ho Chi Minh Trail by motorcycle. For a couple days I passed through small villages, creating beautiful memories, as well as images. This is a little temple in one of the villages containing just 7 homes. 2010

Monterosso, Italy - This was a perfect end to this holiday. A friend from Slovakia and I met a long-time friend of mine, Andrew, in Cinque Terre. He and I had met there 6 years prior. I had traveled to see him in Australia and he had traveled to see me in the states. We have remained friends ever since and just around this moment, we convinced him to come back with us to Slovakia. Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, USA - The Wright Brothers first flew from here. There was only ONE photograph taken of this flight. When they finished, the brothers asked John Thomas Daniels, Jr., 'Did you get it'? and he said, 'I don't know!'. He did! This is the foot of the bronze statue of the photographer, in the spot where the first flight flew. 2012
